President

The Florida Institute of Technology has named Dr. John Nicklow as its next President. Dr. Nicklow will join Florida Tech on July 1, 2023. Dr. Nicklow currently serves as President of the University of New Orleans. He joined UNO in 2015 in the role of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs before being named President in 2016. Prior to his eight years at the University of New Orleans, he served as Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at Southern Illinois University, as well as earlier administrative appointments including chief enrollment officer and leadership positions in the College of Engineering and Department of Civil Engineering. His research focuses on STEM education and environmental and water resources systems. He is a registered professional engineer, a certified professional hydrologist, a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and a diplomate of the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers. Dr. Nicklow earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in civil engineering from Bucknell University (PA) and Ph.D. in civil engineering from Arizona State University. Dean of the College of Business and Economics

Dr. Lisa M. Victoravich has been appointed as Dean of the College of Business and Economics at the University of Idaho. She will begin her role on June 26, 2023. Dr. Victoravich comes from Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver where she has been Associate Dean for Faculty and Research since 2020. In her time there, she has provided leadership to 110 full-time faculty regarding teaching excellence, research productivity, and business community engagement. Dr. Victoravich holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration from Florida State University.

Chair, Department of Educational Leadership

Dr. Judy Alston has been appointed as the new chair of Miami University’s Department of Educational Leadership. Before coming to Miami, Dr. Alston served as Chair of the Department of Leadership Studies at Ashland University and most recently as Director of their Doctoral Program in Leadership Studies. Dr. Alston earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Winthrop College, a Master of Education in both Secondary Education and Educational Administration at the University of South Carolina, and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration at Pennsylvania State University.  Read more here.

Vice President and Chief Institutional Advancement Officer

Ms. Roxanne Miller has been appointed Vice President and Chief Institutional Advancement Officer for Durham Technical Community College. Ms. Miller joins Durham Tech from Wake Technical Community College, where she has served as Senior Director of Development since 2017. Prior to that she was Development Manager for the Poe Center on Health Education and Program Manager for Davis Foundations.  She holds a B.A. degree from the University of Maine and a certificate in Nonprofit Organizational Management from Duke University. Vice President for University Advancement

Colorado State University has named Mr. Derek Dictson as its next Vice President for University Advancement and will join the university on May 1, 2023. Mr. Dictson currently serves as Vice President of Advancement for New Mexico State University and President of the NMSU Foundation. Prior to joining New Mexico State, he served as Chief Development Officer and Senior Director of Engineering Development at Auburn University and Senior Director of Development for the George Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University, where he also served as Business Unit Manager for the Texas A&M Galveston campus, the Texas A&M Law School, and the George Bush School of Government and Public Service. Earlier in his career, he held management positions in the private and nonprofit sectors and earned his master’s degree in public service and administration from Texas A&M and his bachelor’s degree in agricultural business and economics from New Mexico State University. Ohio University has announced the appointment of Dr. Lori Stewart Gonzalez as its 23rd President. She will join Ohio University on July 1, 2023. President-elect Gonzalez comes to Ohio University from the University of Louisville, where she currently serves as Executive Vice President and University Provost; additionally, she served as Interim President for more than a year during a presidential transition. Prior to her time in Louisville, Dr. Gonzalez was Vice Chancellor for Academic, Faculty and Student Affairs at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Her long career also includes serving as Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor at Appalachian State University and as Dean of the College of Health Sciences at the University of Kentucky. She holds a B.A. in Speech Pathology and Audiology from the University of Kentucky, an M.A. in Communication Disorders from Eastern Kentucky University, and a Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Florida. Provost & Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs

The New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) has selected Dr. John Pelesko to serve as its next provost and senior vice president for academic affairs. Dr. Pelesko, currently the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Delaware (UD), will start on August 1, 2023. He brings rich experience to the role, having served as a professor, department chair, associate dean, interim dean and dean at UD, where he has worked since 2002. In four years as dean, he led UD’s largest and most diverse college, with 8,000 students and an annual budget of about $150 million. During that period, the college developed new and innovative academic programs that led to new revenue and resource opportunities and enabled Delaware to invest in faculty and build an environment that encourages increased research grant activity. Sponsored expenditures in the College of Arts and Sciences have grown by more than 31% during his tenure. Before UD, Pelesko taught mathematics at Georgia Institute of Technology and computing and mathematical sciences at California Institute of Technology. The Portland State University Board of Trustees has appointed Dr. Ann Cudd as the 11th President of Portland State University, effective August 1, 2023. Dr. Cudd has been serving as Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor of the University of Pittsburgh since September 2018.  Prior to her service at Pitt, she served as Dean of the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences at Boston University. Dr. Cudd holds a PhD in Philosophy and MA’s in both Economic and Philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh and a BA in Mathematics and Philosophy from Swarthmore College. Senior Director of Development, Lam Family College of Business

Ms. Marcelyn Potter has been selected as the new Senior Director of Development, Lam Family College of Business, at San Francisco State University. She will begin her role on March 13, 2023. Ms. Potter most recently served as the Executive Director of Development, Leadership Strategy and Engagement, at the University of California, San Diego, where she shaped the framework for the $5 million naming of the Pacific Center for Asset Management and formed the inaugural regional program toward achievement of the $3 billion campaign. Prior to that, she was the Senior Director of Development, Regional Giving, at the University of California, Los Angeles.  Ms. Potter received her bachelor’s degree in marketing from Michigan State University.

Vice President for Student Development and Dean of Students

Dr. Karmen Ten Napel has been appointed Central College's Vice President for Student Development and Dean of Students. She will join Central College on Thursday, June 1, 2023. Dr. Ten Napel has served as the dean of students at Morningside University in Sioux City since 2014 and as associate vice president for student life and Title IX coordinator since 2019. At Morningside, Dr. Ten Napel’s student services portfolio included residence life, campus ministries, personal counseling, student health, diversity and inclusion, dining, student crises, conduct issues, strategic planning and work dedicated to retention, Title IX, training and student and parent communication. She led her campus through the COVID-19 pandemic and has overhauled policies and streamlined processes to support students in a more inclusive way.  Dr. Ten Napel is a member of the Association of Title IX Administrators, on the Siouxland steering committee of Iowa Women Lead Change and a member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators. She is a two-time recipient of Morningside’s Thomas S. Thompson Staff Excellence Award. She received her Bachelor of Arts from South Dakota State University, Master of Science in education from Southwest Minnesota State University and Doctor of Education in adult and higher education administration from the University of South Dakota.
