Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs

The University of Minnesota Crookston search committee has placed Dr. John Hoffman as the vice chancellor for academic and student affairs of the university, scheduled to begin July 30, 2018. Dr. Hoffman comes from California State University, Fullerton, where he has served as chair of the Department of Education Leadership since 2013 and as director of the Doctor of Educational Leadership Program since 2012.

Vice President for Institutional Advancement

Michael Kingan has been named Southern’s new vice president for institutional advancement, effective July 9, 2018. Most recently, Kingan was the vice president for development and alumni relations at the University of Texas at Arlington, a Carnegie Research-1 institution that ranks among the top five most diverse student populations of all comprehensive public universities in the nation.

The University of Guam Board of Regents voted for Thomas Krise, a retired Air Force officer who chaired the English department at a Florida university, as the UOG president-elect. Krise was the chairman of the English department at the University of Central Florida.

The Board of Trustees of the City Colleges of Chicago recently approved the appointment of Dr. Ignacio Lopez as President of Harold Washington College. Dr. Lopez has served as Interim President of Harold Washington College since September 2017.

The Board of Trustees of the City Colleges of Chicago recently approved the appointment of David Sanders as President of Malcolm X College. Mr. Sanders has served as Interim President of Malcolm X College since July 2015, when he oversaw the successful transition of the college’s nearly 900 employees and 11,000 students into the new college building.

The Board of Trustees of the City Colleges of Chicago recently approved the appointment of Dr. Gregory Thomas as the next President of Kennedy-King College. Dr. Thomas has served as Vice President of Student Affairs and Institutional Effectiveness at Prairie State College in Chicago Heights since 2012.

Executive Director

Montana State University has hired Christopher Dobbs to serve as the next executive director of the Museum of the Rockies. Dobbs is currently the executive director of the Connecticut River Museum in Essex, Connecticut, where he has served since 2013.
