04/23/2019 - Dr. Dale Whittaker, President of the University of Central Florida has appointed Ms. Misty Shepherd, associate vice president and CFO at the UCF Foundation, as Interim Vice President for Administration and Finance. Misty has been with UCF since 2008 and CFO of the UCF Foundation since 2014. UCF is located in Orlando, FL.
April 20, 2019 - University of Central Florida has hired Mr. Dennis Crudele as the university’s long-term interim Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Crudele will begin on May 6. He brings to UCF more than 30 years of higher education experience, including 28 years at Florida Atlantic University, and has held a number of administrative posts at FAU, including senior vice president for financial affairs and chief financial officer. The Illinois Board of Higher Education has named veteran education administrator, Ms. Ginger Ostro, as its new Executive Director. Ms. Ostro brings deep experience in Illinois education to the role, most recently serving as Interim Chief Financial Officer and Vice President for Financial Operations at Chicago State University. Earlier in her career, she served as Deputy Executive Director at the Illinois Student Assistance Commission and as Director of the Office of Budget Planning at Governors State University. The California Western School of Law has appointed Ms. Sean Megan Scott to serve as its next president and dean, effective August 1, 2020. The appointment is the latest of Scott’s many leadership positions in the legal academy. She most recently served as associate director of the Association of American Law Schools (AALS), the largest and most prestigious legal academic society in the United States. In that role, she was charged with promoting AALS programs that furthered the association’s core values of improving legal education, promoting diversity, and advocating for justice. From 2008 to 2016, Scott served as senior associate dean and associate dean for faculty at LMU Loyola Law School in Los Angeles (LLS), where she established the school’s Master of Science in Legal Studies (MLS) program. Scott currently serves on the Board of Governors of the Society of American Law Teachers (SALT) and is a past member of the Board of Directors of the California Women’s Law Center. Before joining academia, Scott was an associate in the Los Angeles office of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP. She earned her Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law. Read more here.
Montana Technological University has selected Dr. Steve Gammon as its next Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. Dr. Gammon currently serves as Dean of the College of Letters, Sciences, and Professional Studies at Montana Tech, a position he has held since 2018. Prior to his arrival at Montana Tech, he served as Provost and VPAA at the University of Maine at Fort Kent. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his B.A. in Chemistry from Bowdoin College. Dr. Gammon will begin the transition to Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs on January 1, 2020, and will assume the position full-time on February 1. Read more here.
The University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute has named leading population health researcher Lawrence Brown, Ph.D., as the next director of County Health Rankings & Roadmaps. The County Health Rankings & Roadmaps is a partnership between the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute. Dr. Brown is an expert on health equity and the impact of historical trauma on community health, and is currently an associate professor in the School of Community Health and Policy at Morgan State University. Dr. Brown earned his doctorate in health outcomes and policy research from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, his master’s degree in public administration from the University of Houston, and his bachelor’s degree in African American studies from Morehouse College.
