The Board of Regents has selected outgoing New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas as Northern New Mexico College’s next president. Mr. Balderas served two terms as Attorney General of New Mexico, and previously served as a State Auditor, Special Prosecutor, and State Representative (District 68) in the New Mexico State Legislature.
The Missouri Valley College Board of Trustees has announced the appointment of Dr. Joseph Parisi as the 14th President of MVC. Dr. Parisi will begin his transition duties as President Elect beginning in January 2023 and will assume the office of the presidency following the retirement of Dr. Bonnie Humphrey on June 30, 2023. Dr. Parisi is an MVC alum who currently serves as the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Athletics at Central Methodist University. Prior to his tenure at Central Methodist, Dr. Parisi served in various admissions and enrollment management capacities, including Vice President for Enrollment Management at Lindenwood University. He holds an Ed.D. in Instructional Leadership and an MS in Business Administration, Nonprofit Administration from Lindenwood University, and a BS in Nonprofit Administration from Missouri Valley College. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has appointed Ms. Kelly Dowling as Senior Vice President for Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement beginning January 17, 2023. Previously, Dowling served at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook as assistant vice president for advancement.
The UB Foundation Board has announced the appointment of Mr. Patrick Richey as the new Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Richey currently serving as the Senior Vice President for Finance & Administration at Nazareth College of Rochester. He joins the senior leadership team led by recent AGB Search placement, CEO Stacy Knapper. Mr. Richey has over 30 years of progressive experience in senior leadership roles for higher education and government organizations as a Chief Financial Officer. Previously, Mr Richey worked as Vice President for Business and Finance/Treasurer at Canisius College in Buffalo, and as Vice President for Finance and Operations at Genesee Community College in Batavia, N.Y. In addition, he spent more than 15 years in local government management positions in several New York state municipalities. Mr. Richey holds a Master of Public Administration from Syracuse University and a BA from LeMoyne College.
San Francisco State University has appointed Mr. Stefan Amrine as the new Senior Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations. He will begin his role on November 14, 2022. Mr. Amrine served first as a grant writer at Holy Names University, then for 5 years as their Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations. Prior to that, he was a donor relations writer at Santa Clara University. At Holy Names, Mr. Amrine averaged over $2 million per year in portfolio funding and was instrumental in procuring and administering a Department of Education Title III grant of $3 million. He received his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master of arts in secondary education from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.
Baylor University has appointed Mr. David Cortes as the new Associate Vice President of Development. Mr. Cortes has been a member of the Advancement Office since March 2013 when he joined Baylor as the Director of Development. He has continually progressed through the organization, having most recently served as the Assistant Vice President of Development and Foundation Relations. David Cortes is a 2004 graduate of Baylor University and received his degree in Business Administration/Entrepreneurship.
The University of North Dakota has appointed Dr. Randi Tanglen as its next Vice Provost of Faculty Affairs. Dr. Tanglen will assume her new role on January 17, 2023. Dr. Tanglen currently serves as the Executive Director of Humanities Montana in Missoula. Prior to her work there, she was a faculty member at Austin College. She was promoted to the rank of full professor of English in 2019 and also served as the director of the gender studies program and as director of the Johnson Center for Faculty Development and Excellence in Teaching. Dr. Tanglen’s background in higher education teaching, leadership, faculty development and executive experience in operational and fiscal management provide her with the skills to support the academic departments and faculty members at UND. Dr. Tanglen earned her BA in English Education from Rocky Mountain College, MA in English from the University of Montana and PhD in English from the University of Arizona. Read more here.
