The University of Alaska Anchorage seeks an experienced and visionary leader to serve as the Consortium Library Dean to collaborate with the University community in positioning the Library for ongoing excellence in supporting student success.  

The Consortium Library Dean promotes a vibrant and inspiring environment for advancing the goals of the Library and its faculty and staff while responding to the opportunities and challenges of the future. The Dean works closely with Library faculty and staff to provide services and foster a supportive professional workplace and productive community of scholarly achievement. The Library Dean advocates for, represents, and serves as the voice of the Library to the University, the Statewide partnerships, and the community.

The UAA/APU Consortium Library serves both the University of Alaska Anchorage, the state’s largest post-secondary institution, and Alaska Pacific University, a private liberal arts college.

This position, reporting to the Provost, provides strategic, financial, and managerial leadership in executing the functions of the position and works collaboratively and collegially with faculty, staff, academic leadership, students, and external stakeholders to advance the mission, values, and strategic priorities of the Library and the University's Strategic Plan.

The successful candidate for this position will be deeply knowledgeable about emerging technologies and will use that understanding as a foundation for leading the library toward a vision of serving the current and future needs of UAA’s and APU’s students. Applicants must be eligible to achieve tenure at the rank of Professor of Library Science.
