Cody Futch

Cody Futch, MBA has more than twenty years of experience in higher education and healthcare executive search.  Mr. Futch partners with major academic medical centers and regional campuses on leadership searches at all levels.  He has particular expertise in clinical leadership roles and has extensive experience recruiting inaugural leaders to new medical schools.  His search experience has included clinical division chiefs and department chairs, associate chairs, clinical and basic science research program leaders, dean’s office positions, and clinical health system leaders.  Clients have included medical schools, dental schools, children’s hospitals, student health programs and academic cancer centers.

Experience and Honors

Prior to joining AGB Search, Mr. Futch served as a Vice President at a national search firm where he led client relationships and teams focused on both academic and non-academic healthcare searches.  He has a unique blend of experience that includes private practice, private equity, for-profit and not-for-profit health systems, pharmaceutical industry and academic medicine.  This perspective allows for a deep understanding of how to compete for candidates who may be courted by non-academic positions and how to best leverage the strengths of his clients to attract the best talent available.  

Mr. Futch has a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and applies lean principles to helping clients design the most efficient process possible to conduct a thorough search in a timely manner.  He has a strong interest in promoting diversity, equity and inclusion within academic medical center leadership and consults with his clients on best practices to attract a diverse candidate pool.  Mr. Futch has been quoted as an expert in healthcare and academic recruiting in numerous publications including Parent’s Magazine, Modern Healthcare, OBR Oncology, Fierce Healthcare, Fidelity, the Advisory Board, Medscape and The Washington Post among others.  Mr. Futch has a passion for mentorship and serves as a volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star.
